What's Old Has Become New

One day 'bout last year
While checking online
I got a brief message
Which turns out so fine

A brief friend request
From one I once knew
A question with it
If I was me too

A quick confirmation
And then I'm a hunter
I find one old friend
And then find another

Most of these people
I'd not seen for years
We discovered each other
Could almost hear cheers

We talked of the years
Which went by in a haze
And looked straight ahead
To all great coming days

I'm glad I had found
The friends I once had
They aged like fine wine
Which makes us all glad

The point that I make
The moral of this rhyme
Look for your old friends
It's well worth your time

Ode to the New Job

To go to work
I'm in my car
But now my drive
Is not as far

A little later
Now I wake
Now hours closer
To the new daybreak

I'm on the phone
I talk all day
And hear what customers
Have to say

And though right now
The pay's not great
For real bright future
I'll have to wait

I'll work real hard
To do this job
Dress really neat
Won't be a slob

Use my voice
To make a living
Help to others
May be giving

And then one day
I hope to tell
The job is great
And I excel

This one is for fun

Sometimes when one will want to fuss
They take and write anonymous
They think their comments are so bright
But with their wit, they'd lose the fight

I guess they don't want any fame
And so they do not use their name
They think that they are oh so witty
Their lack of courage is such a pity

I don't lose sleep over who you are
I don't care if you're a star
I don't know if your name is Howard
I really think you are a coward

If this poem, you are reading
Rest assured, I am not bleeding
I think this, I win, you lose
This episode woke up my muse

My other friends, you are the best
You're all like medals on my chest
Came to my aid, you all were loud
Friends like you all make me proud

Unemployment Blues

Been six weeks since my boss the jerk
Informed I would be out of work
I cleaned my desk and tossed my shoes
I left and did not sing the blues

I took my final too long drive
Lost my job, but I'm still alive
To some, my future don't look sunny
Jobs are scarce and so is money

I had to go and cut my hair
To show all that I really care
My former look appeared to some
I tried to be an aging bum

My talents all I want to say
I put them in a resume
To take by hand I think is fine
I'm told I have to go online

There will be jobs, I will get money
This time in life will all look funny
No need to fret about the next meal
My faith in God I know is real

From Me to You

I want to write some verse
Be deserving of your time
Maybe touch your heart
Not just random rhyme

I want to tell my thoughts
I want to catch your eye
I want to make you think
And maybe make you sigh

Yes I'm Back

It's been over three months
Since I wrote here
I have this need to write
A poem of cheer

This whole past Summer
And not a verse
My creative streak
Might have a curse

I'll write this poem
To start the fall
If I can't write big
I'll keep it small

four unrelated stanzas

It doesn't mean a thing
If I have no song to sing
I have a cup to drink
As I filled it from a sink

Today's the first of June
And I did not bring a spoon
I used a fork on my break
A cup of yogurt I did take

I'm sitting on my chair
I need to comb my hair
I'll look so nice and neat
When folks I meet and greet

And now I'm almost through
I'm not so sad and blue
I've had a little fun
And now this poem's done
